Design
This is a draft !Here are the MagiKmon's objects:.
User account
This is your login and password giving you access to your account. Account can own domains and contacts. Your login is always an email address.
Contact
Alerts are sent to contacts. One contact can be an email address, a SMS number, a Web URL, or an FTP URL. Contacts can be customized to communicate with existing monitoring software or IT management programs.
Domain
This is a group of services. The domain contains default parameters for the owned services.
Service
This is the master piece of the monitoring. Service contains parameters for the service you want to monitor. Every service is supervised by one or multiple monitors. A service can be a group and contains other services. The status of a parent depend of the status of its children. A parent can also have monitors.
Monitor
It is in charge to raise an alert when a service is failing for too long or too often. The alert is sent to a contact. Every service has a special monitor called logger keeping the status for last few days. Is is used to generate the Time Line. Logger cannot be edited.
Alert
Alert are sent to warn when something goes wrong or goes back to normal ! The 20 last alerts raised by each monitor are kept in an archive for further investigation.
Logging
All messages for the end user are kept in the logging system. If you think something is going wrong, check in your log ! Every message is linked to the domain and possibly to the service or the monitor that has generated hit. Only the 20 last messages are kept.
Backup
This is a backup report. The backup report is owned by a service It has an email address b.XXXX@magikmon.com where all backup report must be sent.
Backup
Every backup report sent to the service monitoring your backup is analyzed and saved in our database. It contains main parameters: start, end, size ... but also the original email and all its attachments.
